Aphrodite Design Group Inc. is a landscape design, planning and project co-ordination company based in York Region. We offer a complete range of services along with dedicated professionals from engineers to contractors, to ensure that your landscape is a success from design through to construction. What was the Most Memorable Garden Your Company Designed or Built:
The most memorable garden created by Aphrodite Design Group was one where the homeowners requested that it feel like a conservation area even though it was in a subdivision. They also wanted privacy but no fences. The back yard was transformed with a combination of native trees and shrubs to attract birds and effectively screen the neighbours. Rock out-cropping’s for seating, crushed limestone pathways and natural stone slab steps enhanced the illusion of a natural setting. |

What was the Most Memorable Garden Your Company Designed or Built:
Our most memorable garden construction was barely a garden at all! In order to minimize the amount of waste from show exhibits and to promote the re-use of materials in new and interesting ways b sq. Design created a bright, modern design office/studio out of a standard, 8’x20’ shipping container. This office concept was a huge success winning design awards at home and overseas and b sq. still uses the original container office daily! |

Who We are:
Established in 1995, Dr. Landscape Inc. is a landscape design, installation and garden maintenance and management studio based in Toronto. We are focused on the premise of providing high quality products in conjunction with excellent service. Honesty, professionalism and knowledge: our founding principles and the tools in our efforts to continually improve, thrive and grow.
What was the Most Memorable Garden Your Company Designed or Built:
All our gardens give us something 'special' to remember them by. A positive memory comes by means of the reactions which the clients leave with us. One garden we designed and built was done solely for our client's daughter's wedding. We did a four month project, in less than one and a half months. Being in attendance at the wedding was eternally satisfying, many happy faces, especially on the bride and groom. |

Who We are:
Genoscape Inc. is a Markham, Ontario based full service design/build firm that specializes in the design and installation of landscape projects that include water features and/or rainwater harvesting systems.
What was the Most Memorable Garden Your Company Designed or Built:
Our most memorable garden consisted of a 150’ stream with 15’ of vertical drop. There were 2 ecosystem ponds tied in to the stream located at different elevations. The stream would disappear into an underground rainwater-harvesting reservoir by means of a negative edge skimmer coming from the lower pond. Natural stone pathways and steps would weave through the stream and cross it at 4 different locations using natural stone and wood bridges. |

What was the Most Memorable Garden Your Company Designed or Built:
Without a doubt, the project that best exemplifies our entire design/build process would have to be 19th Avenue. This landscape presented complicated issues but we were able to create an innovative combination of hard and soft landscaping that immediately became an outdoor oasis loved by everyone. This project also solidified our relationship with a neighbouring foundation, The Markham Stouffville Hospital. Each year we are proud to share a project on their annual home tour with all the proceeds supporting the foundation. |

Who We are:
Landscapes by Lucin is an award winning design build landscaping company building original and unique landscapes in Toronto. "Imagine the possibilities"
What was the Most Memorable Garden Your Company Designed or Built:
We’ve worked on many gardens large and small, utilizing our design based skills and pride of workmanship over the years, which we’ve thoroughly enjoyed, but a special project came along that surpassed everything.
We were invited to manage a donated garden build for the Sick Kids Hospital on behalf of the Starlight Foundation and Landscape Ontario
An unused outdoor space on the ninth floor was proposed as an outdoor retreat for sick kids and their families as a peaceful, and tranquil escape from day to day life at the hospital.
The desired outcome was an amazing transformation of the rooftop
Shade sails, planters, bubble walls, and relaxing couches created an oasis for patients and families to relax in and enjoy
This garden build represented an emotionally satisfying volunteer project that really focused the power of dedication helping others less fortunate |

The firms offer design services, and manage the entire construction process, to ensure no detail is overlooked and the end result is a spectacular outdoor living space.
What was the Most Memorable Garden Your Company Designed or Built:
Every garden is meaningful but even more so when the vision of the client is completely realized. It is incredibly satisfying to know they will use the new space that was planned and created for their continual enjoyment.
One of the most memorable projects was a modern outdoor space that was designed in conjunction with the house. That was the ideal scenario, as the house connects well with the surroundings and there is a flow between the exterior and interior space. The garden will mature so that the plants and hardscape are in perfect harmony and scale with the dwelling. The client and designer were thrilled with the end result. |

Every year when the planning begins for Blooms, we reminisce about past builds. After 25 years in the industry, there have been many, and we have been involved since the very first. With each new year, we learn a little more, and strive to become more innovative with our ideas and execution of them at the show. To date our most memorable build has been the Bio-Pool in 2010. It was unique to that show, great fun to build, and generated some interesting discussion with other participants and visitors to the show. We look forward to making the 2012 Canada Blooms the most memorable yet! |

What was the Most Memorable Garden Your Company Designed or Built:
What has to be the most memorable garden we designed and built would be the Deyong residence, there is a meandering dry stream bed that serves as the focal element of the backyard. However, it becomes a dynamic babbling brook whenever it rains. Another engineered drainage system constructed on-site ensured ideal growing conditions for the family’s vegetable garden. An underground “reverse” tile drainage system used reclaimed clay pipes to form a permeable broken line for watering. (see the featured project at parklane.on.ca for more info on this project)

Who We are:
The Seneca team consists of faculty and 2nd year students from the Environmental Landscape Management Program. The program curriculum not only focuses on horticulture and landscape construction but also the environment. Through the understanding of our entire ecosystems our students learn best practices in our green industry and what measures can be taken to protect and restore our natural landscapes.
What was the Most Memorable Garden Your Company Designed or Built:
The most memorable and significant build for our team is the recent construction of a solar powered outdoor classroom on our scenic King City Campus.
The classroom contains everything from a pergola built out of salvaged barn beams to a concrete platform imprinted with leaves all contained with an armour stone base. The seating in the classroom consists of rustic cedar benches. The whole area is surrounded by an abundance of native plant material that creates serenity within the “room” by focusing on plants that have subtle movement, colour and noises that may be enjoyed all year round.

What was the Most Memorable Garden Your Company Designed or Built:
Luckily for me, my favourite Sweetpea's garden, is right across the street from my home, so I can see it everyday. Removing the lawn completely, we created shady, low maintenance garden, using a mixture of mass plantings and textures, with a hit of rock n’ roll mentality. The collection of unusual plants and bursts of colour create a visual hot spot in a sea of green lawns. |

Who We are:
WILLIAMS DESIGN STUDIO was created by Beverley & Paul Williams
in Jan. 1974 as a joint partnership. Starting out as young artists they have grown their business from fine Canadian handmade art & craft work to designing and building unique sculptural fountains and garden art. "Paul designed his first BULLRUSH FOUNTAIN in 1995 and sold it right out of our backyard pond to a delighted customer. Then we took a booth at the first CANADA BLOOMS GARDEN SHOW at the Congress Centre and have
continued to design and create exciting fountains and water features for clients' gardens and office spaces." They now have a charming SECRET GARDEN beside their studio/gallery in Bethany, Ont. that showcases 10-12 water features with sculptural fountains of different styles and sizes so visitors can see how they can create a peaceful, initimate area around a sparkling cascade surrounded by luscious greenery, colourful flowers, bushes and trees. We specialize in creating unique water features and fountains with each client
What was the Most Memorable Water Feature Your Company Designed
or Built:
The most satisying water feature we created was for an independent lady who wanted to operate her pond from her electric wheel chair. With her input we built a cedar water box on the corner of her deck that had a ramp down the side to her beloved garden. There we installed a large lever ball valve so she could drain the water box herself. At the house outlet we installed another large lever double ball valve (garden hose and pond filler). On the deck corner we placed the large lever outdoor electrical switch box at her level.
Paul built a 3' brass and copper Cascade in 2 parts for ease of placement.
She has had many years of enjoyment in her garden. |
